Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, Along the Lake Wobegon bike trail (old Great Northern Railroad grade) in fairly rugged forested moraine two miles west of Avon, three miles southeast of Albany. On the south side of the trail, just west of Peach Drive.

Habitat: Abundant in a small (~1-acre) wetland basin. Forming dense groups on the surface of the water, and suspended in the shallow water column, in an emergent marsh dominated by Bolboschoenus fluviatile. Mostly in full sun.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Lemna turionifera, Spirodela polyrhiza, Utricularia vulgaris, Phalaris arundinacea.
