Habitat: In thin dry soil over bedrock. In an open woodland along the river.
Associated Species: Lonicera canadensis, Acer spicatum, Salix bebbiana, Betula papyrifera, Picea glauca.
Description: 15-20 stems in area of 2 X 2 m, the largest 4.5 m tall, 5 cm basal dia. Bark gray, smooth. Branches mostly in upper half of stems. Leaves tinged red, inflorescence erect.
