Habitat: In open-canopy bur oak woodland with brushy understory...Associated with Zanthoxylum americanum, Lonicera tatarica, Cornus stolonifera.
Description: Fruits half green, L=0.9-1.25 cm, W=1.0-1.4 cm; nutlets 3-4. A small single-stemmed, open-grown tree, 5.3 meters tall, and 14 cm diameter. Stamens 7-10, anther color not discernible. Compound thorns absent. Collected from same strem as WRS590 (flowering specimen). [annotator note: Leaf shape like D. prona Ashe, otherwise like C. molis (T.&G.) Steele (probably an old C. mollis).
