Habitat: In dry prairie on steep, gravelly slope. In community dominated by Schizachyrium scoparium, Bouteloua curtipendula, Sorghastrum nutans, Andropogon gerardii and Bouteloua gracilis.
Associated Species: With Symphyotrichum oolentangiense, Lithospermum incisum, Penstemon grandiflorus, Asclepias viridiflora, Psoralea esculenta and Astragalus adsurgens.
