Growing near the northern end of Sunset Lake (ID 01020800), a 220 acre mesotrophic basin situated in the St. Louis Moraines Ecological Subsection. Growing submerged in less than 0.3 meters of water.
Sand-silt substrate.
Associated with Potamogeton spirillus, P. robbinsii, Sagittaria latifolia.
