On soil in woods under oak, linden and ironwood near Monson Lake.
MICROSCOPIC ANALYSIS: Small piece of fruitbody from white granular edge, ca. 1.5 mm wide, removed and rehydrated in very small drops, then stained for 2 hours in 1% Phloxine, 1% Congo Red, 5% KOH and cover slip added. Cells spread readily when cover slip lightly tapped. Basidiospores (x520) stained pink, ellipsoid, flattened adaxially, smooth, small hilar appendix, profile: 8.4-10.8 (-11.4) x 5.4-6.0 µm (n=16). Basidiospores abundant and apparently white and from granular area. Basidiospores were not seen when pale yellowish, smooth edge of fruitbody was examined, but round basidia without sterigmata were common. Only one contained a vertical wall.
