Habitat: Growing near the eastern shoreline of Nelson Lake (ID 61010100), a 300 acre shallow, eutrophic basin situated in the Minnesota River Prairie Ecological Subsection. Water clarity good. Individuals surrounding the outlet to Nelson Slough. Locally common in 0.6 meters of water.

Substrate: Gravel substrate.

Associated Taxa: Associated with Potamogeton natans, Stuckenia pectinata.
