Habitat: Seepage-fed ash swamp in hilly terrain; in partial shade under sparse canopy dominated by Fraxinus nigra, w/ scattered F. pennsylvanica, and rare Betula allegheniensis & Ulmus americana. Wet organic soil and shallow water pools. Associated species include Aster umbellatus, osmunda cinnomomea [sic], Scutellaria lateriflora, onoclea sensibilis, Cuscuta gronovii, Bidens cernua, Athyrium angustum, Glyceria striata, Rhamnus alnifolia.
