Habitat:
moist, shallow soil over basalt bedrock along slight seepage flow. In full sun on low bedrock shelf 3-5 feet above lake level and 20-30 feet back from edge of lake. Associates include Scirpus altrovirens, Carex lenticularis, C. canescens, Alnus incana, Cornus stolonifera, Physocarpus opulifolius, Rubus pubescens, Aster umbellatus, Thalictrum dasycarpum.
