Habitat: in carpets of Sphagnum mosses in poor tamarack swamp forming narrow band around [lake]. In partial shade of somewhat stunted Larix laricina. Associated species include Carex lasiocarpa, C. limosa, C. tenuiflora, Drosera rotundiflora, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Ledum groenlandicum, Andromeda glaucophylla, Picea mariana seedlings, Alnus incana, Calla palustris, Smilacina trifolia, Potentilla palustris.
