Habitat: in extensive tamarack swamp complex. Canopy dominated by fairly dense stand of mature Larix laricina. understory of Viburnum trilobum & Ulmus rubra. Growing on raised tree bases and other hummocks. Associates include Mitella nuda, Trientalis borealis, Corallorhiza trifida, Cypripedium reginae, Rubus pubescens, Arisaema triphyllum, Carex leptalea, Thelypteris palustris, Galium triflorum, Cornus canadensis, Ribes hirtellum.
