Habitat: On mesic north-facing, exposed granitic outcrops and adjacent mesic tundra.
Associated Species: Dominant plants - Salix glauca, Betula nana, Vaccinium uliginosum, Carix biglovii, and Empetrum nigrum, with Anthella spp., Andreaea spp., and Sphagnum fimbriatum and S. linbergii present in seepages and rock surfaces. Sphagnum spp. abundant at higher elevations.
