United States, Minnesota, Winona, Great River Bluffs State Park, Queen's Bluff Scientific & Natural Area. Rugged forested terrain along the Mississippi River 12 miles southeast of Winona. On the mid-slope of the extremely steep, 600-foot, northeast face of Queen's Bluff.

Habitat:
Rare and local, a few plants in moss and liverwort mats on a tiny ledge ~8 feet above the base of a ~60-foot sandstone cliff (this cliff rises to ~200 feet high, with a ~150-foot dolomite cap, not far to the northwest). Partial shade from patchy Acer spicatum, A. negundo, Betula papyrifera, Thuja occidentalis, and Rhamnus cathartica that are perched on the rock above.
