Habitat:
Very local near a hiking trail on a broad alluvial terrace that is ~5-10 feet above elevation of the true floodplain. Degraded (heavily past grazed) and increasingly overgrown oak savanna. Partial shade below large, open-grown Quercus macrocarpa. Small loose colony here.

Additional associates include Carex molesta, Dichanthelium leibergii, Phleum pratense, Poa pratensis, Bromus inermis, Galium boreale, Vitis riparia, Zanthoxylum americanum, Rhamnus cathartica.
