United States, Minnesota, Pine, Banning State Park. Along the Kettle River in rugged bedrock terrain 3.5 miles north-northeast of downtown Sandstone, on the east side of the river not far downstream from the State Highway 23 bridge.

Very local at the base of steep, 100-foot, west-facing bluffs. Small colony of ~two dozen plants, on a mossy sandstone ledge. Shaded setting, beneath a larger (overhanging) ledge. Canopy is locally dominated by Acer rubrum, Betula alleghaniensis, and B. papyrifera.
Associates include Polypodium virginianum, Cystopteris fragilis.
