Occasional along the margins of an alluvial backwater slough. Partial shade of Acer saccharinum that dominates the canopy of the surrounding floodplain forest. Wet, mucky silt. Small, loose patch. Light bluish-purple flowers.
Associates include Leersia oryzoides, Carex lupulina, C. retrorsa, Lycopus virginicus, Persicaria punctata, Myosotis laxa, Scutellaria lateriflora, Bidens cernua, Pilea fontana, Aster ontarionis, Thelypteris palustris, Stachys palustris, Cornus amomum.
