Local on the upper slope and crest of a narrow ridge spur, ~80 feet above the valley floor where a major tributary enters from the north. Moderately grazed mesic oak forest dominated locally by Quercus alba, with scattered Quercus rubra, Populus tremuloides, and Betula papyrifera. Understory includes Ostrya virginiana, Zanthoxylum americanum, and Acer saccharum. Gentle to moderately steep northwest-facing slope. Silty clay. Clumps and small patches. Dozens of plants.
Additional associates include Carex pensylvanica, Geranium maculatum, Galium concinnum, G. boreale, Anemone quinquefolia.
