Locality:
United States, Minnesota, Winona, Whitewater State Park. Rugged terrain along the Middle Branch of the Whitewater River five miles north of St. Charles, along the Dakota Hiking Trail near Eagle Point.

Habitat:
Quite local on a narrow ridge spur atop 150-foot bluffs that fall very steeply in two directions. Occasional small clumps in a gently sloping strip of bluff prairie atop southeast-facing cliffs. Full sun to partial shade of Quercus macrocarpa and Q. rubra. Quite rocky, fine sandy-silt, shallow to the dolomite bedrock that is exposed frequently here. This area was burned in March 2016.
