Habitat:
Frequent on a large gravel bar exposed by receding river levels. Moist, coarse, sand and gravel with a cap of small rounded cobbles mostly 0.5-2 (0.25-4) inches in diameter; setting is ~3-5 inches above the water. Full sun. All plants are female.
Associated Species:
Associates include Eleocharis acicularis, E. elliptica, E. intermedia, Cyperus squarrosus, C. diandrus, C. bipartitus, C. esculentus, C. strigosus, Lipocarpha micrantha, Leersia oryzoides, Eragrostis hypnoides, Panicum philadelphicum, Persicaria hydropiper, P. maculosa, Lindernia dubia, Ludwigia palustris, Bidens cernua.
