Habitat:
Very local on the upper slope of a steep, 180-foot, west-facing bluff. In narrow drip zone along the base of a dry dolomite cliff that rises ~35 feet. Partial sun to full shade beneath a hardwood forest canopy, here Quercus macrocarpa, Q. rubra, and Juniperus virginiana. Understory includes Acer saccharum and Ostrya virginiana. Small loose patches in very rocky (fine talus/rubble), powdery silt and detritus with much mammal dung (raccoons, coyotes, etc.).

Associates include Myosoton aquaticum, Urtica dioica, Solidago flexicaulis, Asarum canadense, Arctium minus.
