Locality: United States, Minnesota, Winona, Whitewater State Park. Rugged terrain along the Middle Branch of the Whitewater River five miles north of St. Charles, along the Dakota Hiking Trail near Eagle Point.

Elevation: 317 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1040 feet

Habitat: Local on a narrow ridge spur atop 150-foot bluffs that fall steeply in two directions. A few dozen small clumps in a level to gently sloping savanna / open woodland, bordering a narrow strip of cliff-top dry prairie. Patchy canopy dominated by large, open-grown Quercus macrocarpa, also Q. rubra and Pinus strobus. Understory of Ostrya virginiana and Populus tremuloides. Partial sun. Fine sandy-silt.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Carex pensylvanica, Apocynum androsaemifolium, Anemone virginiana, comandra umbellata, Sisyrinchium campestre, Heuchera richardsonii.
