Habitat:
Local in a small prairie opening, in an increasingly degraded oak savanna / woodland remnant. Occasional, forming clumps in full sun to partial shade of Quercus macrocarpa, Q. ellipsoidalis, Populus tremuloides, and Juniperus virginiana. Dark loamy sand. Dense graminoid sod and thick thatch.
