Local on a small (3-acre) sandbar island. Frequent in deep sand (and shallow pea gravel over sand), in level to gently sloping settings up to ~2 feet above lake level (the low island rises ~2 feet above the lake at it highest point). Full sun.
Associates include Sporobolus cryptandrus, Agrostis scabra, Salix interior, Oenothera oakesiana, Potentilla norvegica.
