Sporadic above the crest of a steep, 120-foot, northwest-facing slope. Dry-mesic woodland dominated by Betula papyrifera and Acer rubrum, with rare large Pinus resinosa. Shrub layer is mostly Corylus cornuta. Loose patches, in level to gently sloping settings. Rocky sandy-loam, often shallow to sandstone bedrock.
