Locality: United States, Minnesota, Pine, Banning State Park. On the east side of the Kettle River in rugged bedrock terrain 1.5 miles north-northeast of downtown Sandstone, 0.75 mile north-northeast of the railroad trestle.

Elevation: 326 meters
Verbatim Elevation: 1070 feet
Habitat: Sporadic above the crest of a steep, 120-foot, northwest-facing slope. Dry-mesic woodland dominated by Betula papyrifera and Acer rubrum, with rare large Pinus resinosa. Shrub layer is mostly Corylus cornuta. Loose patches, in level to gently sloping settings. Rocky sandy-loam, often shallow to sandstone bedrock.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex pedunculata, Trientalis borealis, Maianthemum canadense, Aralia nudicaulis, Vaccinium angustifolium.
