United States, Minnesota, Lake of the Woods, Northwest Angle. Level to rolling bedrock terrain on the north side of Flag Island in Lake of the Woods, along the Canadian border eight miles east-southeast of Angle Inlet, 35 miles northeast of Warroad.

A moderately dense patch in a mesic upland cedar forest. Canopy of fairly mature Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Betula papyrifera and Populus tremuloides. Understory of Abies balsamea and Acer spicatum. Shallow, organic, loamy duff over granite.
Additional associates include Maianthemum canadense, Streptopus roseus, Linnaea borealis, Circaea alpina, C. lutetiana, Huperzia lucidula, Cornus canadensis, Aralia nudicaulis, Rubus pubescens, R. strigosus, Lonicera canadensis, Carex deweyana, C. gracillima.
