A moderately dense patch in a mesic upland cedar forest. Canopy of fairly mature Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Betula papyrifera and Populus tremuloides. Understory of Abies balsamea and Acer spicatum. Shallow, organic, loamy duff over granite.
Additional associates include Maianthemum canadense, Streptopus roseus, Linnaea borealis, Circaea alpina, C. lutetiana, Huperzia lucidula, Cornus canadensis, Aralia nudicaulis, Rubus pubescens, R. strigosus, Lonicera canadensis, Carex deweyana, C. gracillima.
