Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake of the Woods, Northwest Angle. Atop a large bedrock ridge on Magneson's Island in Lake of the Woods, 4 miles east-northeast of Angle Inlet, 35 miles north-northeast of Warroad.

Habitat: Local in a large bedrock outcrop complex just upslope from the shoreline dock for old Fort St. Charles. Forming a dense copse in shallow soil over gently sloping granite. Larger plants to ~10 feet tall and 1.5 inches D.B.H., single- or few-stemmed from the base, and loaded with bright red fruits. Mostly in full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Viburnum rafinesquianum, Prunus nigra, P. virginiana, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Ribes oxyacanthoides, Rosa sp.
