United States, Minnesota, Winona, Whitewater Wildlife Management Area. Rugged forested terrain two miles north of Utica, along the South Fork Whitewater River, downstream from Holt Spring.

Habitat:
Locally common atop a steep, 200-foot, southwest-facing bluff. Spreading and often many-branched shrubs in a tiny strip of overgrown bluff prairie, in a gently sloping setting just back from the top of a large (~80-foot high), dry cliff. Partial sun to shaded by Juniperus virginiana. Silty soil, fairly shallow to dolomite bedrock.
