Locality: United States, Minnesota, Winona, Whitewater State Wildlife Management Area. Rugged terrain two miles north of Utica, four miles west-northwest of Lewiston, along a tributary valley to the South Fork Whitewater River

Habitat: Local on the gradual to moderately steep upper portion of a 150-foot, northerly-facing bluff. Degraded mesic hardwood forest. Canopy of scattered large Quercus rubra and Q. macrocarpa, and rather dense Populus tremuloides, P. grandidentata, and Betula papyrifera. Understory includes Ostrya virginiana and Prunus virginiana. Compacted clayey silt. Robust clumps.cathartica.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex convoluta, Arisaema triphyllum, Circaea lutetiana, Geum canadense, Viola pubescens, Ribes missouriense, Lonicera morrowii, Rhamnus cathartica.
