United States, Minnesota, Lake of the Woods, Northwest Angle. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain on the north side of Oak Island, 11 miles east-southeast of Angle Inlet, 35 miles northeast of Warroad.

Very local in a small poor black spruce swamp, in a shallow ridge top depression. Occurring in rather low abundance on twigs of several Picea mariana trees, some of which have large witch's brooms. Dryish, firm peat. Ground layer is dominated by dense Ledum groenlandicum, and patchy Chamaedaphne calyculata. Partial sun. Specimen taken from the lower branches of a 6-inch D.B.H, ~50-foot tall tree.
Additional associates include Larix laricina, Betula papyrifera.
