Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, on the edge of Happy Valley State Wildlife Management Area. Rolling till plain just east of the South Two River, 2.5 miles northeast of Holdingford.

Habitat: Frequent very locally in a small swale surrounded by rich hardwood forest. Several loose patches occur in this shallow marsh. Peaty muck substrate, often in water up to 6 inches deep. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex utriculata, Phalaris arundinacea, Acorus americanus, Sium suave. A patch of Carex lacustris (MDL7340) occurs nearby but is not a direct associate.
