Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, St. Wendel Swamp. On the north side of Swamp Lake, in a large peatland complex four miles northwest of St. Joseph, four miles east-northeast of Avon.

Habitat: Occasional in a broad zone of rich shrub fen dominated by Betula glandulifera and small Larix laricina. Partial shade. Forming clumps in deep, moderately buoyant, saturated peat with shallow water between the hummocks.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. diandra, C. disperma, Calamagrostis canadensis, Aster borealis, Sagittaria latifolia, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Thelypteris palustris, Andromeda glaucophylla, Typha xglauca.
