Habitat:
Common in a rather large (~10-acre) spring fen, along a broad water tract that bisects a large tamarack swamp. Full sun to partial shade of small Larix laricina. Buoyant, saturated peat. Forming tall, dense hummocks with dozens of fertile culms, raised to 12+ inches above the water-filled hollows.
