Occasional in a tamarack swamp dominated locally by maturing Larix laricina. Partial sun to full shade. Mucky, wet, moderately buoyant peat. Forming clumps, in wet hollows. [Subtle and limited, but distinct, maroon color present on the basal sheaths of some culms- somewhat intermediate to Carex hysteracina?]
