Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, St. Wendel Swamp. In a large peatland complex, on a rolling till plain four miles east-northeast of Avon, five miles north-northwest of St. Joseph.

Habitat: Very local, uncommon to infrequent in a fairly large (10-acre) spring fen, along a broad water track that bisects the surrounding tamarack swamp. In wetter flark-like settings. Buoyant wet peat. Full sun to partial shade of stunted Larix laricina. Dozens of plants; restricted to a ~2-acre area.
Associated Species: Associates include Cladium mariscoides, Carex lasiocarpa, C. livida, C. sterilis, C. limosa, Trichophorum cespitosum, Eleocharis quinquefolia, E. elliptica, Muhlenbergia glomerata, Menyanthes trifoliata, Parnassia glauca, Sarracenia purpurea, Aster borealis, Utricularia intermedia.
