Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake of the Woods, Northwest Angle. Strongly rolling bedrock terrain six miles east-southeast of Angle Inlet, 33 miles north-northeast of Warroad, in the general vicinity of the old feldspar mine.

Habitat: Locally common atop a large bedrock outcrop that rises ~40 feet above the surrounding forested swamp. In a small (~0.1-acre) perched wetland that occupies a shallow bedrock hollow. In partial shade of Populus tremuloides and Thuja occidentalis. Moist, organic soil that is fairly shallow over the underlying granite. Forming dense hummocks, amongst lush carpets of Sphagnum angustifolium, S. warnstorfii, and Polytrichum strictum.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex canescens, Dryopteris carthusiana, Vaccinium myrtilloides, Betula papyrifera, Abies balsamea.
