Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, on the edge of Happy Valley State Wildlife Management Area. Rolling till plain just east of the South Two River, 2.5 miles northeast of Holdingford.

Habitat: Infrequent to locally common in rich mesic hardwood forest dominated by Acer saccharum and Tilia americana, with occasional Quercus macrocarpa and Fraxinus nigra. Understory includes Ostrya virginiana and Ulmus americana. Level to gently sloping settings. Rich silty-loam.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex hirtifolia, C. blanda, C. gracillima, C. assiniboinensis, C. pedunculata, Claytonia virginica, Cryptotaenia canadensis, Galium aparine, G. triflorum, Uvularia grandiflora, U. sessilifolia, Geranium maculatum, Laportea canadensis, Mitella diphylla, Panax trifolius.
