Habitat:
Local on a large bedrock outcrop that rises above the surrounding forested swamp. Common in the portion of this outcrop that was not quarried for feldspar ~60-70 years ago. Forming small, dense patches amongst Cladina and Stereocaulon lichens and Polytrichum moss, in thin detrital soil over level to sloping granite. Full sun to partially shaded by Pinus banksiana.
