Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, St. Wendel Swamp. In a large peatland complex, on a rolling till plain four miles east-northeast of Avon, five miles north-northwest of St. Joseph.

Habitat: Infrequent to occasional in a seepage meadow, on a very subtle slope near the head of a broad water track that cuts through the surrounding tamarack swamp. Firm but buoyant, moist, black, mucky peat. Scattered plants amongst tall Carex stricta hummocks. Full sun.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Glyceria striata, Calamagrostis stricta, C. canadensis, Poa palustris, Carex lacustris, Eupatorium maculatum, Thelypteris palustris, Galium boreale, Equisetum fluviatile, Ribes hirtellum, Cornus sericea.
