Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, St. Wendel Swamp. In a large peatland complex, on a rolling till plain four miles east-northeast of Avon, five miles north-northwest of St. Joseph.

Habitat: Occasional in a seepage meadow, on a very subtle slope near the head of a broad water track that cuts through the surrounding tamarack swamp. Firm but buoyant, moist, black, mucky peat. Rooted on tall Carex stricta hummocks. Full sun.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex lacustris, Calamagrostis canadensis, C. stricta, Glyceria striata, Poa palustris, Bromus ciliatus, Eupatorium maculatum, E. perfoliatum, Lathyrus palustris, Thelypteris palustris, Equisetum fluviatile, Aster umbellatus, A. puniceus, Ribes hirtellum, Cornus stolonifera.
