Habitat:
Uncommon and quite local on very small sandbars exposed in the past few weeks by receding water levels. Fine, moist sand, 6-10 inches above the water. Partial shade of Acer saccharinum in the canopy of the adjacent floodplain forest. Level setting dominated by Cyperus squarrosus.

Additional associates include Eleocharis intermedia, Panicum philadelphicum, Eragrostis hypnoides, Amaranthus tuberculatus, Rumex fueginus, Gnaphalium uliginosum, Veronica catenata, Lindernia dubia, Persicaria lapathifolia.
