Locality: United States, Minnesota, Morrison, Ereaux State Wildlife Management Area. Gently rolling sandy terrain east of State Highway 371, two miles northeast of Little Falls.

Habitat: Locally abundant in a rich sedge / shrub fen, in the broad central zone of an 80-acre wetland complex. Dense patches; forming the dominant cover in 5+ acres. Buoyant, saturated peat, often with shallow water between the hummocks. Typically in carpets of Sphagnum and Polytrichum mosses. Full sun to partial shade of small Larix laricina. Low shrubs, mostly <18 inches tall.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Betula glandulifera, Spiraea tomentosa, Vaccinium oxycoccos, Eriophorum chamissonis, E. gracile, Carex lasiocarpa, C. chordorrhiza.
