Habitat:
Locally common in a rich shrub fen, in the broad central zone of an 80-acre wetland complex. Dense patches here; forming the dominant cover in 5+ acres. Buoyant, saturated peat, often with shallow water between the hummocks. Typically in carpets of Sphagnum and Polytrichum mosses. Full sun to partial shade of small Larix laricina. Branching shrubs, mostly <3 feet tall, infrequently to 5 feet tall.
