Local atop a steep, 300-foot, west-facing bluff. Occasional in a savanna ecotone on the edge of a tiny bluff prairie opening, near the top of dry dolomite cliffs. Partial shade of Juniperus virginiana, Quercus ellipsoidalis, Q. macrocarpa, and Rhamnus cathartica. Loose clumps, in shallow, rocky silt, in a zone that is dominated by Carex pensylvanica.
