Habitat:
Uncommon and quite local in a degraded wet-mesic to mesic prairie opening on a slight elevation rise in a large wet meadow - willow swamp complex. Full sun. Deep, moist to fairly wet black loam. Often in moss carpets. Very loose colonies; a few dozen plants here. Fertile culms infrequent.
