Habitat: Local on the margin of a degraded seepage meadow. In wet muck along the edge of the adjacent forested upland. Partial shade, A single eight-foot tall, several-stemmed shrub here. Maturing berries are purplish colored.
Associated Species: Associates include Rhamnus cathartica, Eupatorium maculatum, Impatiens capensis, Galium asprellum, Pilea pumila, Carex stipata, C. retrorsa, Phalaris arundinacea.
