Habitat:
Locally abundant in a small (one-acre) marsh. Co-dominant with Sagittaria latifolia. Robust clumps, aggregated into fairly dense patches, in an emergent zone surrounding a small (1/4-acre), shallow pond. Rooting in a mucky-organic mat that floats ~ a foot above the muck substrate. Clumps often basally submerged in shallow water. Full sun.
