Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, Strongly rolling forested moraine south of the Sauk River, one mile south-southeast of downtown Cold Spring, along the north side of Hummingbird Lane.

Habitat: Frequent in a small (one-acre) marsh. Forming clumps in an emergent zone surrounding a small (1/4-acre), shallow pond. Rooting in a mucky-organic mat that floats a foot or so above the muck substrate. Clumps are often basally submerged in shallow water. Full sun.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Carex comosa, Scirpus cyperinus, Glyceria grandis, Leersia oryzoides, Sagittaria latifolia, Sparganium emersum, Lycopus uniflorus, Alisma triviale, Galium trifidum, Bidens cernua, Spirodela polyrhiza, Lemna minor.
