Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, Gently rolling till plain four miles southeast of New Munich, six miles southwest of Albany. On the southwest shore of Getchell Lake.

Habitat: Common, forming clumps in silty muck, partially submersed in shallow water due to recent rains; the lake level is presently up ~12 inches (a 6-inch rain event two weeks later adds an additional 36 inches of water to the lake level). Full sun. The broad and nearly level lakeshore is part of a heavily grazed cattle pasture.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex sychnocephala, C. retrorsa, Eleocharis erythropoda, Phalaris arundinacea, Glyceria grandis, Plantago major, Mimulus ringens, Ranunculus sceleratus, Lemna minor.
