Habitat:
Frequent. Forming loose clumps in moist clayey organic substrate reworked during road construction in 2011; mostly absent from the wettest spots. Full sun. This area dries out somewhat and is mowed / hayed as the growing season progresses.

Associates include Eleocharis erythropoda, Carex stipata, C. aurea, C. hysteracina, C. tenera, C. brevior, C. vulpinoidea, Scirpus atrovirens, S. microcarpus, Glyceria striata, Phalaris arundinacea, Equisetum arvense.
