Habitat:
Common in rich tamarack swamp in a ~15-acre basin. Patchy to interrupted canopy of Larix laricina. Sparse to patchy understory is mostly Ulmus americana. Often in mats of Sphagnum and feathermosses. Mostly on low hummocks. Moist peat. Loosely cespitose.
